A small group of six ultra liberal community college teachers, some of them, self proclaimed atheist and agnostic have filed suit in federal court to stop invocations at graduation exercises and other campus ceremonies in the South Orange County Community College District. The small group has targeted the board of Trustees, the chancellor and the Saddleback Valley college president. For several years the plantiffs have complained about the inclusion of formal invocations at campus events. The case has focused on board President Donald P. Wagner who is also a Republican candidate for the California State Assembly. Wagner has been strongly supportive of the long standing protocol. The board also begins its monthly board of trustee meetings with the invocation and the pledge of allegiance.
Prayer is a vital and essential part of American life. It is wrong to take away the opportunity to take a moment of time before each meeting and give thanks to our God that has given so much to everyone. The board of Trustees, the chancellor, and the Saddleback Valley College president must fight against this small group of leftist.
